Testimonials

Nicki is so kind caring, gentle but also fun!

“I put my daughter in with Nicki when she was 15/16 months old and it was the best choice I could have made. My daughter only goes 2 days a week but she settled in so easily and quickly as her educator / kaipoipoi is so kind caring, gentle but also fun! Nicki made my daughter and I both feel so comfortable from the get go! This was so important to me as I just had a new baby and was so worried about how my daughter would get on with so many changes happening.

The experiences they get with nurture at home is awesome, such a cool environment for our tamariki with lots of exciting activities. I love how they experience time with their familiar small groups and get the chance to experience learning with large groups of tamariki too. The communication between parent and educator is such an underrated part of this childcare service. I love reading the learning updates from her teacher and seeing the photos of my daughter experiencing new things, learning, making friends and having fun. Definitely recommend placing your child with one of the awesome home based educators that work for Nurture at Home. I couldn’t be happier”

✨ Celebrating NZ Sign Language Week! ✨

Did you know that New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is one of Aotearoa’s official languages alongside te reo Māori and English? It was officially recognised in 2006 under the NZ Sign Language Act.

NZSL is a rich, visual language that uses hand movements, facial expressions and body language and it plays a vital role in the identity, culture and everyday communication of the hearing impaired and non-verbal community here in Aotearoa.

💛 Why it matters:
Learning even a few signs can help create a more inclusive, connected community where everyone feels seen, heard and valued.

👉 Keen to learn? Here are some great resources:
• LearnNZSL (free online learning): https://www.learnnzsl.nz
• NZSL Dictionary (app + online videos)
• Deaf Aotearoa – courses, workshops training
• NZSL4U – fun, flexible online & in-person classes

📍 Local option in Nelson:
• Deaf Aotearoa Nelson and Bays offers support, resources and can help connect you with NZSL learning opportunities in our region.

🤟 This week, why not learn a new sign each day?
Small steps can make a big difference in building a more inclusive Aotearoa.
